I was planning on going into droll and precise detail about our closing. About how Countrywide raised our interest rate on us another half-point at the closing itself (even though they had promised us a lower rate just the evening before), about how I wound up on the phone with Phil Shaughnesy (the head of the brokerage), literally yelling at him for lying to us when he said he would match the other guy's rates. I was planning on complaining, too, about how high our closing costs also turned out to be, when all was said and done.
But since the whole Katrina thing, I just don't feel too much like griping. It's petty, is what it is; when we now have ourselves a beautiful home and so many others are without. Hell, the realtor even finished dry-walling the basement! And our crab apple tree may in fact turn out to be a real apple tree. So from here on out it's going to be nothing but optimism and joy.
Here's a mirthful movie to get us started. Enjoy.
