Raegan and I signed on a house and are having it inspected this afternoon. It's a 115 year old Victorian located in the heart of the slums of Winchester. Or as our neighbor called it, the "ragged edge" of Winchester. For whatever reason, .01 acres of the property are across the town line, as though the house were testing the waters of Woburn with its big toe. Consequently, we'll have to pay 38 bucks a year in tax to the city of Woburn. Here's the description:

Don't miss out! This two bedroom Antique Colonial is rare gem. So many updates! Handsome bath and light fixtures, skylit office or family room off kitchen overlooks new deck and beautiful newly fenced yard. Full bath with laundry (washer and dryer included) See to appreciate! Near Horn Pond - for walking/jogging!

All that's true. Check out more pictures here. The fellow who owned the house before us, name of Keith Oliver, was a 60 year old man who lived alone, had no family, and died (so they tell us) of a heart attack. He bought the place only two years ago for $350 g's, made all these updates and then promptly died. We think maybe he was gay. This guess is based on a) his single & childless status, b) the queer-eye quality of his decorating and c) his love of cats.

We don't know how many cats he had, but all over the house are little worshipful plaques celebrating the apparent joy that is cat ownership. So thank you, Keith Oliver, for putting on the addition, the new roof, the underground sprinkler system, building the fence and shed, landscaping the yard, and then dying when you did — unknowingly bequeathing us not only your house (for the unbelievably low low price of 387 g's), but also all your stuff — the furniture, the lawn mowers, and whatever else the realtors leave behind. Your hard work will not go unappreciated.

Raegan and I are titillated by the idea of having a gay ghost. We hope he sticks around, or at least comes by to pay a visit once in a while. Maybe even finish working on the basement.

Speaking of which, here's how the house will undoubtedly look once Raegan gets ahold of it:
